Alberto Borghi is the Italian-born founder of Del Bocia, an artisan butter business built from childhood memory, traditional craftsmanship and extraordinary resilience.
Born in Veneto in northern Italy, Alberto grew up with the flavours and food traditions of the Dolomites. After moving to Australia, he built a career across sales, hospitality and dairy before deciding to create something of his own.
Then, just before launching the business, everything changed.
Alberto was scammed out of more than $400,000, a financial blow severe enough to derail almost anyone’s plans.
Instead, he dusted himself off and found a way forward.
They say necessity is the mother of invention, and for Alberto, adversity became the catalyst. Starting small and producing butter largely by hand, he drew on the flavours of his childhood and created Del Bocia, building it into an award-winning Australian artisan food brand.
His story is not simply about butter. It is about what happens when the plan disappears, the money is gone, and the only thing left is the decision to keep going.
