The Seventh Seat™ is a new Australian documentary talkseries created and directed by Steve George Makris. At its heart is a simple, timeless idea: when people share a meal, they open up. Walls come down, storiessurface, and humanity shines through.
Six guests take their place at the table, with one chairalways left open — the “seventh seat.” Over the course of a meal, conversationflows in ways no one can predict. The guests might be ordinary people withextraordinary stories, or familiar faces revealing sides of themselves neverseen before. What unites them is honesty. Food has a way of disarming people, and in that space, they reveal truths that are rarely shared.
Episode One captures an eclectic mix of voices whose storiesrange from personal triumphs to raw, vulnerable admissions. Cameras linger notonly on what is said, but on the pauses, the laughter, the silences, and thejoy of eating together. It is a show as much about connection as it is aboutstorytelling.
Visually, The Seventh Seat™ is cinematic: intimate lighting, considered camera work, and a mood that draws viewers in. A custom soundtrackwritten for the series heightens key moments, giving the experience the weightof a score rather than incidental music.
As creator Steve George Makris explains, “So much happensover a table. If you give people the space and the invitation, they’ll goplaces they never expected to.”
With more episodes in development, The Seventh Seat™ iscarving out a unique place in Australian screen storytelling. It is aninvitation to slow down, to listen, and to rediscover what we share in commonwhen we come together at the table.
